Lidocaine Safety Considerations
Before using topical lidocaine products:
- Do not use if you are allergic to lidocaine, anaesthetics, or any other drugs.
- tell your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and non-prescription medications you are taking, including vitamins.
- tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking lidocaine, call your doctor.
Although side effects from lidocaine are not common, they can occur. If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately:
- blurred or double vision
- irregular heartbeat
- seizures or convulsions
- ringing in the ears
- severe itching or burning
