Skin care guide

Healthy skin is supple, smooth and well hydrated, in other words, has plenty of moisture. It not only looks and feels better, but most importantly, healthy skin is your best defense against infection.

Here are 6 simple suggestions to help you maintain good skin health.

  1. Practice good diabetes management
Fluctuations in blood glucose levels can stress your overall health, including your skin health

  2. Hydrate your body
Make sure you drink plenty of water.

  3. Hydrate your skin
Use a moisture-replenishing lotion. Most creams and lotions just coat your skin to trap moisture. It is important to use moisture-replenishing products that contain ingredients such as UREA. The best time to apply these moisturizers is after bathing.

  4. Cover up
Avoid excessive exposure to wind and sun by using hats, long sleeves and lotions to protect your skin. In winter your skin is particularly vulnerable to dryness so take extra care.

  5. Be careful
Be extra careful to treat minor wounds such as blisters, cuts, abrasions and scratches with antibiotic ointment or creams without delay.

  6. Pay special attention to your feet
Your feet are particularly prone to problem skin and infections. Very good moisturizers are available that are formulated specifically for feet and heels. Never put moisturizers between your toes - it’s an area that already tends to trap heat and moisture, which creates a breeding ground for fungus and bacteria.

How healthy is your skin?

Take this healthy skin test. There are six warning signs that your skin’s ability to resist infection has weakened.

Has your skin grown noticeably thicker?

Has your skin become more yellow in colour?

Is your skin noticeably drier?

Is your skin becoming scaly?

Is your skin cracking?

Do you notice that minor wounds take longer to heal?

If you answered yes to any of these questions you should make improved skin care an immediate priority. Talk to your physician or diabetes nurse educator for more information about skin care and the best moisturizers to use.

UREA - Nature’s Own Skin Moisturizer

UREA is an important part of your skin’s natural moisturizing system.

The body uses manufactured urea in the same way as the urea naturally found in the skin. Scientists call it a true “humectant” because it is an important component of the body’s Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF). Urea causes hard dry skin cells to "unpack" and expose their water binding sites, thus enabling the cell to absorb and retain additional moisture. This action is also known as hydrotopic solubilization and several independent clinical investigations and studies prove that it works.

It’s a little like taking the plastic wrapper off a sponge so it can absorb better!

Unfortunately, urea on its own does not feel like a good moisturizing lotion. It is chemically unstable and actually leaves the skin feeling dry to the touch.

That is what makes DERMAL THERAPY such an effective formula. The pharmacists and scientists who developed DERMAL THERAPY use a special stabilized urea formulation that is precisely balanced and blended with other moisturizing ingredients including pure silk proteins and alpha hydroxy acids.

The results are efficacious moisturizing formulations that actively replenish moisture to the lowest skin depths and leave the skin looking silky smooth and feeling wonderful.

Why DERMAL THERAPY Work

Why DERMAL THERAPY Works

DERMAL THERAPY’s deep moisturizing urea based producst are not just beauty creams. They are clinically proven formulations that actively restore moisture even to extremely dry skin.

DERMAL THERAPY’s formulations contain appropriate concentrations of the elements similar to those naturally found in healthy skin. These include: urea, silk amino acids and alpha hydroxy acid (lactic and malic acid). Unlike other urea formulations, we do not need to add fragrances to mask odors.

A clinical test of the DERMAL THERAPY formulations with increased Alpha Hydroxy Acids has shown them to be very effective moisturizers with improved hydration of the stratum corneum (outermost layer of skin) when compared to urea formulations without this ingredient combination.

The lactic acid (alpha hydroxy acid) stimulates the skin’s production of collagen, a process that improves the growth of new basal cells (skin cells) that rebuild a naturally occlusive, protective skin barrier. Enhancement of the skin's natural barrier is important to keep moisture in and infectious agents out. This new skin growth displaces the old dry cells through exfoliation so the skin feels very smooth and elastic. The DERMAL THERAPY formulations contain both lactic and malic acids, to improve the exfoliation of dead skin cells. The amino acid derived from pure silk protein restores skin tone and luster to give the skin a wonderful, silky, smooth, non-greasy feel.

Natural and Non-toxic
Because DERMAL THERAPY’s main ingredients are similar to those naturally found in healthy skin, it is non-toxic and extremely safe to use. These formulations have been evaluated by leading toxicologists and found very safe for human use. Our main ingredient urea is found in every body cell. Even people undergoing dialysis have safely used DERMAL THERAPY for years. Urea brings water into the skin structure and then leaves the body unchanged. This is why it is both so useful and non-irritating.

DERMAL THERAPY helps people who have tried “every” moisturizer Our money back guarantee ensures your satisfaction.
